In the past year HZA was awarded the following contracts:

 

Lincoln, Nebraska: a contract with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate the Behavioral Health Help Line, Family Navigator and Post Adoption/Post Guardianship Services contracts. 

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Children’s Behavioral Health Division, to evaluate Moving Forward, a youth in transition initiative funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 

 

Tallahassee, Florida: a contract with the Department of Children and Families to increase the consistency of the initial assessment of abuse hotline calls and investigative practices by updating the child allegation matrix. The project will help to ensure that all DCF staff and Sheriff's Office child protection staff are using the same criteria and factors in decision-making. 

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the State of Maine Judicial Branch with funding from the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance to evaluate the Maine Adult Drug Treatment Courts at multiple sites throughout Maine. 

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the State of Maine Judicial Branch with funding from the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance to evaluate the provision of additional and enhanced case management and treatment services to a greater number of drug court clients in Cumberland County to increase the likelihood of successful rehabilitation. 

 

Little Rock, Arkansas: a contract with the Arkansas Department of Human Services to develop a staff unit responsible for conducting Quality Services Peer Reviews following the federal Child and Family Services Review model. 

 

Little Rock, Arkansas: a contract with the Arkansas Department of Human Services to assist in reducing the backlog of overdue investigations and in closing protective and supportive services cases which no longer warrant DHS involvement. 

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate the impact of medication-assisted therapies such as Suboxone on the treatment of consumers of addiction services and the agencies which provide these therapies. 

 

Atlanta, Georgia: a contract with the Georgia Department of Human Resources to assess needs, develop curricula and deliver training to the Fulton County Office of Children and Families intake and investigations staff. 

St. Paul, Minnesota: a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to conduct a workload study for the Child Safety and Permanency Division, including identification of process efficiencies and retention needs of caseworkers. 

White Plains, New York: a contract to conduct a follow-up workload study for Westchester County's Child Welfare Division encompassing case work from receipt of referral through to case closure. 

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: a contract with the Oklahoma House of Representatives to conduct a performance audit of the Department of Human Services with a focus on organizational and personnel issues broadly and child welfare and foster care in particular. 

Portland, Maine: a contract with the Cumberland County Maine Sheriff's Office to assist in planning for treatment needs of people in the corrections system with mental health problems and to promote screening for criminal risk and behavioral health issues. 

Portland, Maine: a contract with the Co-occurring Collaborative Serving Maine to evaluate a project that will promote the integration of medical care, mental health and substance abuse treatment into a single agency and assess the role of peer support in behavioral health agencies. 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate law enforcement-sponsored community services designed to enforce underage drinking laws. 

Hartford, Connecticut: a contract with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families to conduct an assessment of systems and services involving sexually and seriously physically abused children.

In the past year HZA was awarded continuations to the following contracts:

 

Madison, Wisconsin: a contract with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Director of State Courts Office, to conduct an evaluation of the court improvement initiative in the child welfare and foster care arenas.

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the University of Southern Maine to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention strategies mounted by six Maine universities and colleges in reducing high-risk drinking among college students.

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Judicial Branch to evaluate the implementation of the Co-occurring Court in Kennebec County.

 

Little Rock, Arkansas: a contract with the University of Arkansas to provide ongoing quality assurance services for the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Children and Family Services.

 

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: a contract with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare to conduct data analysis for the Child and Family Services Review as well as standard reporting for state and county agencies on behalf of the Office of Children, Youth and Families.

 

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate the New Families Home Visiting program.

 

Tallahassee, Florida: a contract with the Florida Department of Children and Families to provide a comprehensive ongoing package of training for staff at the Florida Abuse Hotline and Criminal Investigation Unit.

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate Maine’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant.

Augusta, Maine: a contract with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to evaluate the Co-occurring State Incentive Grant.
